Goddess Beads Repeatedly Deleted as Obscene on Myspace [Mar. 30th, 2009|06:35 am]

Photo above was deleted. Twice. Myspace evidently has a cyber bullying enabling infallibilty policy that if they deleted it, then it was in violation.

I even seriously blurred certain parts before resubmitting the photos.  They still got deleted as obscene.  These are pretty faithful renditions of the world famous Venus of Willendorf archaeological find, only they're done in shrink plastic with pen and colored pencils.  Orange and yellow versions of these beads were not deleted.  The colors terra cotta and clay are too sexy?  What???

Basically, anyone can report your pictures as obscene, myspace obliges them by deleting said photos, and only gives you the triad of a form letter with the infallibility doctrine in it accompanied by the defensive fact that they don't keep a record of what was deleted (so how can you contest anything?).

This pretty automatic system is indeed constantly abused to the point of causing victim accounts to be deleted and if the recipient of such attention starts another account, gets deleted, and this happens too many times...then myspace can block IP addresses.

Bully heaven.

Evidently, all the teens and younger adults accept this as myspace reality.  Despite and because of their system, myspace is a Wild Wild West of sorts where Goddess beads may be deleted but pictures of Pamela Anderson fully exposing her breasts may stay up for a loooooong time.

I haven't had any problems with photos of my Goddess beads on numerous other sites.

I have six people on my myspace friends list and they are Pagan artists (not prudes or creedist), a Pagan author (not a prude and not into petty game playing), and my oldest daughter, is who definitely not creedist or prudish and with whom I have a very close relationship.  I don't think it's anyone on my friends list.

I had one on my friends list post the supposedly offending photos on her myspace account and Venus did not get deleted there.

Then again, I have another friend, a Pagan photographer, whose myspace photos also seem to have been targeted (she photographs newborns and families).

I'd be willing to bet that most Pagans don't run into too much trouble having their art and photography reported and deleted elsewhere?  That'd be my bet.  At least, I haven't heard of anything like that.

There is a girl in the WWJ Gallery group that made one with a pink ribbon where the breast was removed and the was what got me interested in the goddess bead. I would love to be able to send you a picture of it if you will let me know how.
There are many more places that see them and they are popular - I myself intend to start making them with clay.
Whoever thinks that they are obscene has no concept of what beauty is ...Good luck to you in the future.

Re: Goddess Beads Repeatedly Deleted as Obscene on Myspace

Teresa,

Thanks.

I love glass beads and I love the idea of the breast cancer awareness Goddess bead too.

I'm getting into sculpting and drawing/watercolors now. I'll return to my interest in beads some time in the future, no doubt.
